FAQ

The questions worth asking first.

Is this the SACE Board?

No. Study Smart Academy is an independent company. We write to the SACE subject outlines because that is what you are sitting, but we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the SACE Board of South Australia, and nothing here is an official assessment.

Does the marking count for anything at school?

No, and it is not meant to. Nothing here is timed, invigilated, or reported to your school — no grade goes anywhere. It is for finding out which marks you keep dropping while there is still time to stop dropping them.

Is the marking any good? Can it be wrong?

It can be wrong, and we would rather say so than pretend. When it is not sure about an answer, it hands that one to a real person to check rather than guessing at you. And if you think a mark is wrong, you can say so on the answer itself — somebody reads it, and it is how the marking gets better.

Is this a way to cheat?

It would be a bad one. It marks answers you have written and tells you what was missing; it does not write assignments. The whole point is the feedback, and feedback on work you did not do tells you nothing about what you will do in the exam.

How fast is it?

A few seconds. The example on the home page took 3.5 seconds from pressing submit to seeing the marks. Fast enough that you fix the answer while you still remember what you were thinking.

Can I write on paper?

Yes — for maths you will want to. Photograph your working and send the photo; it is marked the same way, against the same marks, and you get the same per-mark feedback.

Who can see my work?

Your answers are yours. Your school does not see them and your teacher does not see them. One of our editors sees a single answer only when the marking was not confident and a person has to decide. The Privacy Policy in the footer says exactly what we keep, where it is kept, and what deleting your account removes.

Which subjects, and when?

Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics — all SACE Year 12 — opening Term 4, 2026. The subjects page has the detail, and the waitlist decides which of them we finish first.

I am under 18. Can I sign up?

Yes, and you can read for free without anyone’s permission. To pay for it you have to confirm a parent or guardian has agreed and give us their email address — they get the receipt and a link that cancels the subscription.

What does it cost?

One plan, monthly, cancellable at any time, plus a free tier that needs no card. The pricing page shows the current price, taken live from the billing system rather than typed onto a page.
